Serious about safety

Safety is at the heart of everything we do – wherever and whenever you work with us you can be sure that we are operating to the highest standards. At DiPerk, we believe that workplace injuries are preventable and that there is nothing more important than making sure our people go home safe and healthy to their families at the end of every shift.

As part of the wider Finning group, our activities are underpinned by the company’s commitment to safety which is overseen at the highest levels of the company and backed by the accountability all members of the team take to uphold the highest safety standards and make safety a core value that is an integral part of our corporate culture. Our operational employees receive extensive safety training each year and we ensure each uses personal protective equipment appropriate for their work. From extensive training to the development of new safety programs and initiatives, our financial investment in safety is significant.

To support the safety of our people, we manage our commitment to sustainability as part of an integrated framework that also includes the environment.

Leadership
Strong and effective leadership is key to creating a safe and healthy work environment. DiPerk leaders visibly demonstrate their ongoing commitment to health and safety in all business activities in a number of ways including executive visits, performance reviews, supervisor and management walkthroughs, participation in incident investigations, and safety meetings.

Training
Employees are provided with the necessary knowledge, experience, training and qualification to carry out their jobs in a manner that meets our high safety standards including workshops and courses that cover all elements of our management system – for instance, risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency response – and induction training for new hires.

Risk Assessment
To ensure risks are understood and properly mitigated a number of measures are implemented including risk assessments, job hazard analysis, pre-task assessment and occupational health surveillance programs.

Operational Controls
Rigorous controls are in place to identify, implement, monitor and manage risks in DiPerk's operations and activities. Examples of these range from lifesaving rules, preventative maintenance programs, contractor and visitor requirements, signage and inspections to personal protective equipment. As we continue to implement best practices across our operations, some examples of global standards which have recently been developed are related to hand protection, overhead doors, vehicle safety and energy isolation.

Incident Investigation
DiPerk has extensive processes and systems in place to report and record incidents, conduct thorough investigations, identify root causes, implement corrective actions to prevent recurrences and identify opportunities for continual improvement.

Emergency Preparedness
We plan and prepare for any and all foreseeable emergencies with robust emergency response plans, crisis management that are supported by emergency drills to ensure our preparedness.

Performance Measurement & Effectiveness Review
We measure our health and safety performance in a consistent manner globally through annual targets, regular performance reports, performance review meetings and annual effectiveness reviews.

Assurance
The effectiveness of our management system, policy and standards is supported by defined processes including audits, reviews and ongoing monitoring of actions to address audits findings.
